Born in Bologna in 1964, Francesca since the second half of the 80’s has started to work for several italian and International publishers amongst which “Frigidaire”, “Echo des Savanes”, “Il Manifesto”, “Comic art”, “L’Unità”, “Linus”, “Internazionale”, Fantagraphics Books, Garzanti, Sinsentido, Topi Pittori, Mondadori. She published many comic books including: Hiawata Pete (Granata Press, 1993; Coconino press, 2008), Helter skelter (Phoenix, 1997), Pastil vol.1, vol.2 (Phoenix, 1998/2000), Bang! Sei Morto (Seuil, 2003), Pasticca (Einaudi, 2003), Grenuord, (Coconino Press, 2008), Cronache dalla palude (Coconino press, 2010); children’s books such as ‘’Le avventure di Cipollino’’, on a text by G. Rodari, Editori Riuniti, 2001, ‘’Le avventure di Ulisse’’on a text by R. Piumini (Editori Riuniti, 2003), ''Il Racconto del lombrico'', on a text by N. De Vita, (Orecchio Acerbo, 2008), ''Pronto soccorso & beauty case'', on a text by S. Benni (Orecchio acerbo, 2010 ); the collection of drawings ‘’Un'estate a Tombstone’’ (Comix/D406, 2006). Among her personal exhibitions: ‘’Quella teppa dei miei amichetti’’ (2004) at the Museo dell'illustrazione of Ferrara,’’Un'estate a Tombstone’’ (2006) at the d406 of Modena, ‘’Cronache dalla Palude’’ (2011) at the Squadro Gallery of Bologna, Officina Ghermandi (2012) at the Museo Civico Archeologico of Bologna. In 2005 she created the animated intro of the 62th editon of Biennale del Cinema di Venezia. Francesca received the Golden Romics Award in 2013.
